Ye Olde Curiosity Shop

It’s no wonder Ye Olde Curiosity Shop has thrived over 108 years and through four generations of family ownership. The shop’s extensive collection of curios and natural oddities still astounds: fleas in dresses, shrunken heads, jumping beans, two-headed calves, even the mummified remains of “Sylvia”, an early Spanish immigrant to South America, and “Sylvester”, said by scientists to be the “world’s best-preserved mummy”. Admire or purchase art by Pacific Northwest tribal members, listen to the antique military band organ, or play some of the vintage arcade games of yesteryear. You’re sure to find something to amaze or amuse! You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy the strange and startling sights that await you at what National Geographic calls “Seattle’s most famous store”, but a sense of humor and a healthy appreciation for the bizarre certainly helps. As one brochure from the 1920s proclaimed, “One may leave Ye Olde Curiosity Shop empty handed, but never empty headed or hearted”.
