Entry with the Go Seattle Card
The 25-acre Kubota Garden in Seattle’s southeastern Rainier Beach neighborhood was begun in 1927 by self-taught gardener Fujitaro Kubota. A 1907 immigrant from Japan, Kubota was dedicated to blending the plants of the Northwest with traditional landscape design principles of his native culture. Despite enduring significant anti-Asian sentiment during his lifetime, including a four-year internment in Idaho, Kubota remained committed to sharing his passion with the public. Kubota Gardens is now owned and operated by the City of Seattle. Traditional walking paths wind through the hillside park, passing between ponds, streams, and waterfalls. Highlights of the park include the Moon Bridge and a new entrance gate built in 2004. Self-guided tour maps are available at the garden near the information kiosk located in the parking lot.
Admission is free to all, but donations are encouraged. Go Seattle Card makes an annual donation on behalf of all our customers.
